Culinary Services Group, LLC (CSG) is a contract food service management company specializing in eldercare, hospital and business dining. CSG was founded in 2008 by business partners Richard “Rich” Valway, II and John Ramey. The company was founded on the basic principles of providing quality food, exceptional customer service and value to its customers.
The CSG Leadership Team continually strives to create a culture where every team member has personal ownership in quality and customer satisfaction. Additionally, our executive team provides guidance and support through a hands-on approach and flexible solutions. These principals have proven to be the cornerstone for successful businesses of past and were instilled in Rich at an early age. His grandfather; an Executive Chef and influential corporate figure with “Saga Corporation” (Saga was a pioneer in the food management business and is regarded by many as the best of its time) understood the importance of commitment, passion and integrity.

Richard “Rich” Valway II, President and CEO, is actively involved in operational and administrative functions of the business. Rich has been in the industry for over 20 years as Food Service Director, Regional Manager, and most recently VP of Senior Services. John Ramey, Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for overseeing day-to-day food service operations. John got his start in foodservice, also 20 years ago, while serving in the U.S. Air Force. John’s operations experience includes the title of Food Service Director, District Manager and Regional Manager. He also holds CDM and CFPP certifications. Email John
Terra Valway, Director of Finance, has more than twenty years of experience in accounting and financial services. She has worked in several industries including construction, healthcare and food service. Terra is responsible for all aspects of Culinary Services Group’s finances including accounts payable, accounts receivable and establishing vendor relationships. Scott Alme, Director of Business Development, graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Minor in Pre-Law. He spent the early part of his career in hospitality with Hilton and Hyatt hotels. His career evolved into business development where he has dedicated more than 20 years to consulting and advocacy roles for the healthcare industry, specifically long-term and acute care. He has been with CSG for more than four years, receiving the Sales in Excellence Award for $10 million in contracts. Laura Schmitt, Director of Talent Acquisition, joined Culinary Services Group two years ago as the Talent Acquisition and Development Coordinator. She was later promoted to Manager. In her role, Laura is responsible for recruiting and retaining top talent for Culinary Services Group. She enjoys matching talented professionals with the right jobs at CSG and watching individuals grow within the company. Laura has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from Penn State University. Jessica Dicken, Director of Marketing, brings experience in marketing, advertising and corporate communication for senior living communities. Jessica is responsible for Culinary Services Group’s branding, merchandising and marketing. She has a master’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in marketing from Hood College. Mark Geis, Corporate Chef, has over 25 years in the business covering Hotels, Restaurants, Healthcare, Business Dining and sports & entertainment around the world. Mark graduated culinary school with a culinary degree and a bachelors in pastry. Varied career including cooking for royalty and many dignitaries & stars.
